Lifestyle design is a great concept. It truly is.

But it is more than sketching a plan then doing a few things.

Lifestyle design starts in our mind.

If someone hates their job — along with everything else in their life — chances are, leaving their job is only going to create a different set of circumstances they hate.

Their lifestyle will be different. They’ll have the freedom they want.

But they’ll be faced with a whole new series of challenges.

It might suck going solo. It might suck running a business. It might suck paying sales tax, income tax, getting audited, or keeping the books.

It might suck going to bed at night wondering where their next customer is coming from.

Changing the situation might change the negatives, but they’ll still exist.

Negatives will always exist. It is the people who deal with them the best who win.

Hoping for a life without negatives is a delusion.

Changing the way you deal with the negatives, is progress.

Using lifestyle design to create happiness comes from the ability to deal with what you have, in the best way possible.

I’m not saying stay where you are if you aren’t happy.

By all means, shake things up, make a difference, change your life. Do it up!

But if someone tries to make change without changing their mind, they’re in for a long drawn out sequence of the same dissatisfaction in a different setting.

If we listen to any wealthy/successful/happy person talk a out their past, we’ll notice a common theme.

In the instances where they’re asked to talk a bit deeper about their success, they’ll almost always end up talking about the work they did on themselves.

They worked on themselves long before they accomplished anything in their distinguished field.

There is a process.

But what IS the process?? Excellent question…

Each person’s process will be unique to them, their life, their experiences and the way they view the world.

No doubt about it, and where you go from today is completely up to you.

But I want to help you head in the right direction so I’ll suggest a starting point…

The first step is developing an unshakable self-awareness that allows you to observe your actions, and your emotions with complete honesty.

This awareness can depict what is controllable, what is uncontrollable, and what could be controllable if we didn’t blame something uncontrollable.

A huge dose of honesty needs to come with this awareness. Its ok to be honest with ourselves. We’ll be better because of it.

Harness that awareness and make it work for your…

Observe your thoughts, your beliefs, your actions and your reactions. Observe yourself.

Are you empowering yourself to take action?

Are you inspiring yourself to do what it takes?

Or are you giving yourself good reason to blame something else so you can sit “comfortably” on the sideline?

Is what you think creating limitations that simply don’t exist?

If committed to putting one foot in front of the other UNTIL you got where you wanted, where would you end up?

Our mind does a good job of keeping us safe…and this severely hurts our chances for success.

Our mind is constantly sending us signals of potential danger. Potential failure is one of those dangers.

If we don’t have an awareness of the way our mind works, we’ll continue to fall victim to the mechanism nature has created.

Start your process and go to work on yourself.

Success is a result of the process to become better than you are.
